Are Float Swimsuit considered life jackets or swimming aids?

2026-07-02
Float swimsuits are classified as swimming aids, not life jackets. We (Libra Neoprene) clearly distinguish between the two: Float Swimsuit—Provides flotation support to help children learn to swim, but is not designed to turn an unconscious child face-up in the water. Requires adult supervision. Meets EN 13138 and CPSIA standards. Life Jacket—Designed to turn an unconscious person face-up in the water, with higher buoyancy. Meets USCG, CE Level 100+, and AS/NZS standards. We manufacture both categories with appropriate safety ratings and labeling. We recommend always supervising children wearing float swimsuits, as they are a learn-to-swim tool, not a safety device.
